Debt collection

LTh is a specialised debt-collection agency. As the only one of its type operating in Hafnarfjörður, it has assisted the town’s main institutions and companies with the recovery of their debts ever since its foundation in 1950.

Rapid growth and urbanisation took place in Iceland after the Second World War, especially in the southwestern corner of the country. Iceland’s economy had been mainly agricultural and rural and the country lacked the infrastructure of a modern society; capital was in short supply and the small communities had to meet demands on many fronts at once. Under these circumstances, local financial companies played a key role, and for a long time, the Hafnarfjörður Savings Bank was our largest client for debt-collection services. Other important clients over the years have included neighbouring  municipalities in the metropolitan area, and pension funds and also, in recent years, one of Iceland’s large commercial banks, Íslandsbanki. We also assist numerous residents’ associations with the collection of their dues.

LTh is a member of the European Collectors’ Association (ECA). This came into being when some of Europe’s the longest-standing debt-collecting firms decided to create a common forum to work for greater efficiency and security in the recovery of arrears claims across borders.

Our membership of the ECA gives our clients access to high-powered collection companies all over the world which provide reliable services at fixed prices.
